Despite all the commentary to the contrary, there is actually no hard evidence that the western world really changed its views on racism and eugenics after the revelations of Auschwitz.
It just could be that the people who had always opposed it got much more vocal and those who had always espoused it learned to curb their tongues ----- at least in public and in public opinion surveys.

Two Tier Internet the Johnson-Reed Bill of its day : plenticiding "digital plentitude"
Modernity (1875-1965), the mean-spirited ideology that was a panicky response to all the plentitudes that global modernization and advances in science had thrown up , has a lot of faults to its credit.
One of the most infamous was the 1924 Johnson-Reed Bill, an Act that shut New York City's Golden Door for over 40 years.
Republican Albert Johnson ,along with fellow Republican David Reed, had foundationed that Bill's restrictions upon their racist cum social Darwinist cum eugenic cum anti-black, anti-Jewish, anti-catholic philosophy.
Why did they fear the new plentitude so much ?
Perhaps because an expanded plentitude of choices and voices and decisions seems to overwhelm as many people (something about their brain chemicals ?) as it inspires many others.
As a result, they seek artificial ways to restrict Natural Plentitude.
Immigration restrictions and eugenic measures in general was one of them.
Rejecting ballot box and work place democracy because it gave everyone a voice to argue and debate the actions that past elites were used to have simply obeyed, was another.
Today, digital has many many things once so expensive and difficult , easy and cheap - even free.
Today the democracy of digital plentitude has made writing an e-book, blog ,web petition , even a science or academic article, much easier than ever.
More importantly, waving the results in front of people all over the entire world - thanks to the digital internet - is instant , easy, free and effective.
Because already 40% plus of the entire world has some access to the internet.
That figure will soon rise to become near universal.
It will even be higher in the poorest most rural parts of the world than it is in the richest precincts of Manhattan .
If we can judge by the history of radio and TV , poorer rural people will crave mobile phone internet , even over cars or better homes, as the substitute for all the big city music concerts and first run movies they will never see.
The same sort of moral panic that led to 1924's Johnson-Reed Bill is already underway, fermented by the same sort of people : once-comfortably powerful white middle class professional males.
Who are they ?
Editors - like Johnson - this time fearful that anyone can write a better piece of journalism than their journal-degreed selves can , amateurs writing news reports from on the spot locations and with local on the spot insight.
Only by demanding that the only accurate news is that coming from the limited page output of our traditional print media can we Old Guard create a gatekeeper to hold the voice of journalistic democracy at bay.
Top line tenured professors ,used to having their names and university's status get their articles into the higher cited journals , now fearful that OPEN ACCESS will destroy all that.
They eagerly resist the OPEN ACCESS threat offered up by more junior, more productive, colleagues by demanding tenure still requires publishing hardcover books in the humanities and pre-publication peer view in prestige print journals for the physical sciences.
Why 300 very expensive copies (the usual print run today) of a scholarly book is better value to scholarship than an OPEN ACCESS e-book available in endless numbers world wide is left unsaid.
After all 300 copies does not go very far when the world has 300,000 libraries of higher learning !
But enough about the restrictive practises from cartels of old university professors and even older newspaper editors.
Business CEOs , old pros at cartels restricting trade to raises prices and profits, also fear new digital rivals destroying their comfortable lives.
They eagerly support the big telecoms who seek a two tiered internet - where money talks once again and the poor and foreign voices will once again be free to sleep under the digital highways's bridge ---- that is once again shut out.

Seemingly, educated white Allied males would prefer to lose to white educated Nazi males - rather than see war won thanks to darkies , women, the small and the weak
Britons - to this day - never tire of telling us that the British Empire troops couldn't contest German troops on German soil till January 1945 because the empire could never come close to matching the manpower of the Third Reich .
Particularly as a successful offensive effort usually needs to outnumber the defenders three to one.
And if you only count the white population of the British Empire that is true (but even there, only narrowly so.)
But India alone - despite feeling badly mistreated by Britain - raised a volunteer army of six million.
And if Britain had resorted to the use of conscription in India , as did all the war's big armies, it could have raised 15 million just here - easily.
Add the colored residents of the rest of the British Empire and the British Empire Army alone could have successfully invaded Nazi Germany even without the Russians , Americans and French.
Not that those three didn't hamper their own war efforts by also distrusting and under-using their colored citizens.
America had a wonderful three-branched armed forces - except for the vital pointy end of the stick - its woefully undermanned infantry.
Blacks were willing to fight - just as women (white, black and latino) were willing to take up more of the work at home to free up men for the infantry - but white American men would have none of it.
France's men also resented the fact that its only well trained forces were its colored North African troops and that they were getting all the glory in liberating (white) France - so they were pulled out of the line in France and poorly trained white French went in - and the effort to defeat Hitler suffered.
Great Russia was even more extreme - it harshly deported its border-living colored minorities that it distrusted , deep into the eastern interior - at the cost in lives of untold thousands of babies, grandmothers --- as well as of young males of fighting age.
On the medical front, the Allied medical community also objected to saving lives if the only way was by injecting the excrement of basement slime mold (aka crude natural penicillin) into them.
They preferred to wait (even if their dying patients didn't) until "Man" had invented artificial penicillin - assumed to be inevitably better, safer , cheaper - as they were sure 'He' soon would.
Afterall, this was an age that actually thought and taught that mother's breast milk and mother's homemade bread was unsafe !
An age that sought to re-make all of Mother Nature in new artificial Man-made versions : artificial wool, silk, bone, etc - via the new plastics and polymers.
Artificial food - food in a pill - artificial test tube babies - men trying to take even that role away from mothers and Mother Nature.
Unconsciously then, educated men of the 1940 era deeply resented the way the popular press always said that 'common bread mold' had saved lives when the best of the laboratory science (the man-made Sulfas) of the educated man had failed.
An implied criticism of one group of educated men - like a single isolated criticism of one white man by some colonial native - was seen as an attack on all educated white males.
And so they weren't about to let the (small weak slimy) darkies-of-medicine get all the medical glory.....

Lack of CALORIES & CITIZENS, not lack of CHROMIUM & COAL stymied combatant nations during WWII ....
Its usually said that a lack of strategic natural resources - ferroalloys, petroleum, even coal was the downfall of Japan and Germany.
Don't buy it.
They began to run short of these materials in 1945, months away from losing a six year long war of attrition.
Running short of these materials moments before their defeat was more of a sign rather than a cause of their collapse.
The empire held and controlled by Germany between 1940 and 1944 was more or less the area held by today's EU --- just as the empire that Japan held in those years was the same as what we call the South East Asia Economic Tigers.
These two areas then and now, along with America and the former USSR, were the powerhouses of the globe - in terms of people, industry,science.
Yet these two empires failed to either adequately feed their subjects or turn them into willing citizens, prepared to work hard and die hard for those empires.
Lack of food and lack of civic support worked together in an entangled way --- if the subject people had felt warmly towards Japanese and Germans ,they would have produced the food to fill their bellies and quiet their dislike.
Lack of Calories is just another way to say lack of Citizenship and vice versa.
The modernist rulers of these empires failed to treat Nature (or people they considered lessors/close to Nature) with the respect they deserved and then paid the price when their potential strong empires collapsed from within --from lack of supporters.
The Soviets also failed to feed their people and while they inspired the naive, the rest they had to drive into battle with guns at their heads.
Things weren't so dramatic in the American and British empires but even there relatively few people were willing to volunteering for infantry, eager to drive the Japanese and Nazis from their conquests.
People did not flock to the colors in a sort of moral crusade.
Instead, they saw its as a grimly necessary 'job' and plodded into battle led by generals equally cautious and uninspiring.
True, food was more or less adequate in these empires.
But the ruling people (and the subject peoples) of empires based on a mild form of racism were hardly going to go all out to defeat other empires that were also based on racism, now were they ?
In the end, it took six long , costly, years for a half dozen world-sized empires to defeat two relatively small empires --- hardly an inspiring record...
